Entremont Oppidum: Occupied from the beginning of the 1st century B.C by the Celto-Ligurian tribe Salyens, the Entremont Oppidum looks from its triangular spur over the two great routes of Provence; from Italy to Spain and the other toward the Alps. The excavations carried out in 1946 revealed traces of a of a defended site (a rampart to the North of the plateau), and an advanced civilisation: shops, warehouses and workshops as well as a large building a type of shrine. The visit to Entremont merits a trip to the archaeological rooms of the Granet museum (town centre). You can admire the collections which originate from this site. Statues and bas-reliefs as well as impressive severed heads.

The Thermes Sextius: Giving onto the Boulevard Jean Jaures, the thermal baths are flanked by the Tourreluque, the last trace of the fortified medieval town. The establishment itself stands in place of the ancient Roman thermae of Sextius, destroyed in the XIXth century. Excavations have unearthed a thermal pool which can be seen from the entrance of the new thermal complex.

Vendome Pavilion: Preceded by a beautiful French garden, the most seductive of follies inherited from the XVIIth century, this was built in 1665 under order by Louis de Mercour,Duke of Vendôme. Constrained to stay within the limits of order it is said that it was built to house his love with Lucretia de Forbin Sollies, better known as the Beauty of Canet. The Pavilion later belonged to the painter Jean-Baptiste Van Loo who added a second floor without modifying the harmony of the ensemble. The main façade of the pavilion presents a rich sculpted ornamentation; telamons which support a great balcony, garlands of fruit. Today it is a museum which houses a beautiful collection of regional furniture, paintings and fabrics from the 18th century.

Cezanne's Studio:  More than a museum, the Lauves workshop is truly steeped in memory, marked with Cézanne's stamp. It allows you to discover those articles familiar to the painter, his artistic favourites. The workshop is equipped with an audio-visual room showing films and CD-ROMs. Conference visits are organised for individuals and groups.

Vasarely Foundation is located in the heart of Provence, opposite the Sainte-Victoire mountain in Cezanne country. The building is a work of art in itself, constructed in 1976 and inspired by Bauhaus architecture: it is formed of 16 impressive hexagonal units. In this architecturally unique building are 42 life-size monumental works by Vasarely, known as the father of "cinetism", and a room dedicated to optical art. Victor Vasarely's project was both architectural and social: to show that art can be incorporated in architecture to enhance everyday life. The works use a variety of techniques (reliefs, painting and transparencies) and different materials (wood, metal and plastics). Vasarely's aim is to "give you something to see." He uses geometry by combining shapes and colours, he creates volume, space and movement. The visitor becomes a participant; the eye is captivated by the diversity of optical effects which merge with the extraordinary architecture of the rooms. Temporary exhibitions by well-known artists are also held throughout the year in a vast gallery, as well as the International Architecture Forums.

Cité du Livre reunites many cultural structures around the Méjanes library: the Saint John Perse Foundation, the Institute of Image, exhibition and conference halls, as well as a video library of lyrical art. Set in the old match factory, the XIXth century buildings have been well looked after, maintaining the space of two large halls.

The Joseph Sec Monument: At the end of the 18th century, Joseph Sec, a wood merchant from Aix ordered the building of a curious Jacobin and masonic monument. This construction is one of the rare traces of revolutionary architecture. The pavilion, the mausoleum around the fenced garden and the façade with sculptures were recently renovated.
