Nestling like a jewel in its verdant casket, this town was built as a principality by Louis XIV. Nicknamed the «little Versailles of Aix», Lambesc was the political capital of Provence, and the General Assembly of Communities were held here from 1639 to 1787. Numerous mansions bear witness to this age of glory.

The tour of Lambesc includes the 1759 washhouse, the church listed as a historical monument and its splendid altar-pieces with works by renowned painters of the 17th century, the famous belfry with its Jacquemard clock as well as the museum which is a real record of the history of this town where Madame de Sevigné stayed.
