Origins: Saint-Cannat, located 16 km from Aix en Provence, was founded by a 5th century holy hermit, Canus Natus, Bishop of Marseille, who gave his name to the village.

Heritage: several 17th and 18th century fountains, old washhouses and posterns which remain from the Mediaeval ram-parts. The museum is a must for learning about the village’s rich history. It has several theme rooms: the Bailli de Suffren room, the Old Saint-Cannat room, a collection of farm tools, Provençal costumes, etc. The statue of Bailli (1951) stands in front of the Espace Suffren.
